The Herbert Protocol is a safeguarding initiative designed to help locate people living with dementia or memory-related conditions who go missing. It encourages carers, family members, or friends to compile key information about the person in advance, which can then be shared with the police to speed up a search.
All you need to do is complete a form containing important details such as:
The form can be kept at home or with a care provider.
It helps reduce response time in a missing person investigation.
If you’d like to complete the form, visit https://www.iompolice.im/ and click on ‘Advice’.
The form is linked to a yellow wristband or fob which can be picked up from the Isle of Man Police Headquarters or from our Admiral Nurses at Hospice.
This short video demonstrates how to use an i-phone and android phone. This way you will know how to ‘read’ one, should you come across someone who may need some help.
