Who are we?
Forget Me Not was formed in August 2018, with a mission to improve the support available for people living with dementia and their families in the Isle of Man.
Our charity funds the provision of the Admiral Nurse service, supported by Dementia UK and hosted by Hospice Isle of Man.
What is an Admiral Nurse?
Admiral Nurses are nurses with experience in dementia care who work collaboratively with families and with other dementia care providers, sharing their expertise and giving them the support and skills needed.
Admiral Nurses work alongside people with dementia, and their families: giving them one-to-one support, expert guidance and practical solutions. The unique dementia expertise and experience an Admiral Nurse brings is a lifeline – it helps families to live more positively with dementia in the present and to face the challenges of tomorrow with more confidence and less fear.
1,400 people in the Isle of Man have a formal dementia diagnosis
The Manx population is expected to increase by 16% between 2011 and 2031, with the largest increase expected in the over 65s
Dementia is the cause of over 12% of deaths in the Isle of Man
